The Storm

Friday night, there was a storm that harassed all of Ontario.  My mother's biggest phobia are storms, where my dad gets excited and watches them wide eyed and crazy (with the front door wide open). Stupid me sat by the window playing computer games ignoring the loud noises and flickering lights in the sky.

Luckily, my brother was paying full attention to everyone's surroundings. It all happened so fast, I wasn't even sure what was going on. This is how I remember it. My brother had a bad feeling and started wrestling my father away from the door and slammed it shut just as the lightning hit my neighbor's tree. Suddenly, the house shook and the glass of our front door shattered. My brother came running to my rescue and wheeled me to the safety of our hallway.

The scary part came after it was over. There was a giant tree on top of our house and there was no way in or out. Where I was sitting, we found that the tree was 1 inch from going right through my head like a spear. The tree put a hole in our roof and the ceiling above my spot, cracked. All I can say is Thank God it wasn't any worse. I certainly have some awesome guardian angels.

My brother hopped a couple fences in the backyard to get out and take some pictures. I should also mention we are no longer trapped but are still waiting on all the repairs and the tree is still on our lawn, all chopped up.
